Richard and Laurie Cheney, Maplerich Golden Retrievers and Papillons. We have been "into Goldens" for approximately 18 years. We have had Papillons for 12 years. We strive to produce Happy, Healthy, Home Raised Puppies. We decided on the name Maple first because of course it is golden coloured. We put our names with it and MapleLaur sounded silly, but MapleRichard wasn't so bad, MAPLERICH sounded even better, and that was it! Learn more "about us."

These two wonderful breeds work well together here. It goes without saying that the Papillons rule the roost. :o). Rick wanted a Golden Retriever when he had seen one as a young man, in a canoe, sitting very regal. Years later, I bought him one, Appleby's Captain Crunch. That was it, we were hooked!

Years later I decided I needed something small for me to show, the Goldens were a handful for me. Then Silky came along, North Starr's No Nonsense, and the fun began. We breed occasionally and have only ever had two Golden litters in one year once. We are nice people striving to produce nice puppies for ourselves first and then of course, other nice people. We feel Golden retrievers love children and welcome inquiries from families with children. Papillon puppies are obviously little and more fragile, really tiny children are not a good idea for a new baby Papillon.

All the dogs that are used in our program have hip, elbow, eye and heart clearances, on the golden retrievers, and eye clearances and patella checks on our Papillons. We include guarantees for the above mentioned problems in our contracts. We encourage people to stay in contact with us and can always be communicated with via email and of course telephone. As we love these dogs so much and strive to produce healthy puppies, we sell all our dogs on Non-breeding contracts, with spay and neuter clauses. This is not negotiable.

We have produced some beautiful champions and some beautiful dogs in general that you will see in our photo gallery.
